Area profile: Stirling, Aldgate, Crafers


The Hills is full of small towns with big personalities. With dozens of suburbs and key clusters of towns across the region, we’re highlighting a few of our favourites.

And now, Stirling, Aldgate and Crafers – one of the most beloved parts of the Adelaide Hills. 

Stirling 

When you think of a quintessential Adelaide Hills setting, Stirling’s streets come to mind. Leafy streets, pubs galore, iconic markets, and endless charm. You can get to the bottom of the freeway in 10 minutes, making the lifestyle the best of both worlds. 

As of December 2025, Stirling’s median house price is $1.67 million – a 19.2% increase from the previous year. Stirling has always been one of the more affluent towns, and this is especially true today with these prices. Property prices have gone up over 50% in the past five years. 

Stirling’s estimated population is 3,157.

Aldgate 

Five minutes from Stirling is Aldgate, another affluent Adelaide Hills town. It’s got a smaller town centre but there’s a lot packed in it. 

As of December 2025, Aldgate’s median house price is $1.62 million – with a massive 24.3% increase in the past year. Like Stirling, Aldgate’s property prices have risen over 50% in the past five years.

Crafers 

Also shouldering Stirling, but on the city side, there’s Crafers. It’s an even quicker ‘commute’ at around seven minutes (eight km). If you love nature but need city access, there’s nowhere better than Crafers. 

As of December 2025, Crafer’s median house price is $1.4 million – up 14.8% in the past 12 months. Like Stirling and Aldgate, property prices have doubled over the past five years.
