Adelaide Hills Lifestyle

12 unmissable summer attractions in the Adelaide Hills & Fleurieu Peninsula.

While the days are long, the season can feel short. Don’t let this summer end before you’ve had time to soak it up. There’s a lot going on close to your Adelaide Hills property – add these activities to your weekend list.

Adelaide Hills lifestyle advantages

1. Go cherry picking

While Hahndorf is known for its delectable strawberries, there’s more fruit to be picked in the Adelaide Hills. The cherry season ends January 15, so put on your overalls and become a farm fam for the day.

2. Wood Oven Pizza Night

Red wine and a crispy wood oven pizza combo aren’t just for the winter. Oasis Gardens Function Centre in Langhorne Creek will dish up delicious pizzas on January 16. Make sure you go with an empty stomach.

3. Sinclair’s Gully Winery Sunset Session

There’s no shortage of Adelaide Hills wineries and each one has its unique charm. Explore a new one on January 18 at Sinclair Gully Winery. Bring a picnic and indulge in some local wine, as the sunset soaks the nearby forest.

4. Crush Festival

Clink your glasses at the beloved Adelaide Hills wine festival, Crush. Keep Australia Day free and get tickets to this annual event. Stylish wines, regional produce, earthy music, art, and theatre. Sign me up!

5. Tour Down Under Roadside Lunch

Head to the Inglewood Inn on January 23 for the annual Tour Down Under. Tickets include a grazing lunch and a spread of local drink favourites, such as Paracombe Wines. Cheers! Then, cheer on the cyclists.

6. Acoustic on the Deck

Summers are for deck hangs right? Head to Maxwell Wines and take your tastebuds on an adventure of the cellar door menu. This is a special event that’s only on in the summer, so don’t miss out.

7. McLaren Vale Market

Is your idea of a Sunday well spent perusing markets for fresh produce, hand-made items, and crafts? Get on down to McLaren Vale on January 27. There’s a bouncy castle for the kids (and children at heart).

8. Local Sculptures

See how the region inspires artists at Fox Creek Wines. On February 1, take a trip to the winery’s gardens and marvel at the sculptures based on the flora of the Australian landscape.

9. Strathalbyn Cup

Get your race day outfit sorted, round up your friends, and plan a day at the Strathalbyn Cup on February 2.

10. Yankalilla Acoustic Evening

Folk music by the beach? Yes, please. Enjoy a music-filled evening on February 15. BYO drinks and nibbles, and camp if you’d like to spend the next day at Normanville.

11. Painting & Wine

Yes, even our outdoor painting events have wine. Fancy trying a new hobby or re-living a child pastime? Pack your supplies and head to Magpie Springs for the most inspiring backdrop. Thanks, Mother Nature. Did we mention wine, platter food, coffee, and hot chocolate?

12. Farmerama

Let’s end this list off with a good old-fashioned family fun day. Picture hay rolling races, sack sprints, a jumping castle, market stalls, and a whole lot of laughs. The Mount Compass Farmerama kicks off on March 29.
