Rethink the real estate agent relationship

It’s normal to assume you only need a real estate agent when you’re looking to make a move. Outside of these moments, you probably don’t think of creating a long-term relationship with a trusted local agent… but you should.

Even if you’re in your forever home and never have intentions to sell, it’s important to know what’s happening in your suburb, region, and the broader market to make the most informed decision.

Sometimes the market determines the decision, especially if it’s a historic seller’s market like we saw between 2020 – 2024.

While houses are, in part, a lifestyle choice, ultimately, they’re a financial asset. For most people, it’s their biggest purchase and owned asset. This is why every homeowner should build a relationship with a real estate agent, in the same way we need an accountant.

You want someone you can call to ask:

  • What’s happening in the market and how does it affect my home?
  • What’s my home worth this year?
  • Are we ready for a second home?
  • What are other properties on my street selling for?
  • What renovations would add value to my home?
  • Why do we keep missing out to other buyers?
  • What is a good suburb to invest in?

You don’t just call your accountant at tax time. You have questions throughout the year and decisions to make that’ll affect your taxes. The same goes for real estate.

It’s the small decisions you make in between the big moves that matter. No question is too small to ask your agent. Think of us as your property coach, supporting your big lifestyle and financial goals relating to real estate.

We suggest booking in a property appraisal at least once per year, so you know the current market value of your home. Do this annually, whether or not you’re looking to sell. Information is important.
