Brett Gabel (NairneChat founder): On Nairne’s past & future.

Brett Gabel travelled all over the country as a musician in the army. Fond memories visiting Nairne as a child, with his Dad’s role at Chapman’s meat factory, led him back to the town.

After struggling to find an online community ‘bulletin’, Brett created NairneChat – a Facebook forum that’s grown to nearly 6,000 members. Nairne, one of South Australia’s oldest towns, is no longer a relic of the past. Today, Nairne is an eclectic community, contrasted with that historic charm.

In this episode, Brett talks about Nairne’s evolution in the past decade, his vision for the next 10, and the importance of collective conversations between community, developers, and council. He leaves listeners with an empowering message: “Now, we have a chance to have our say on how Nairne will grow.”
