The best suburbs in the Adelaide Hills Series: Uraidla & Piccadilly.

There’s a special part of the Adelaide Hills that shoulders some of the prestigious suburbs (and is situated along one of the most scenic routes into the city). The Uraidla and Piccadilly pocket is fast becoming of one our region’s sought-after lifestyle hotspots.

Located in between the Greenhill Road and the South Eastern Freeway, these two suburbs are conveniently situated for people who want the best of both worlds – a home in the Hills, access to Mount Lofty and an area peppered with eateries, wineries and boutiques. Just the right amount of urban perks, it doesn’t get much better than Uraidla and Piccadilly.

The lifestyle…

If you’re a foodie, you’ll feel at home in this area. There’s the award-winning restaurant, Summertown Agrostologist, the converted church turned pizza bar, Lost in a Forest, the popular café, Stall 1195 and the timeless Uraidla Hotel.

And wine lovers, get ready to stretch your tastebuds. On your doorstep, you’ll have Greenhill Wines, Barratt Wines, CRFT Wines, Tapanappa Wines, Vintage Longbottom, and Terre a Terre.

The real estate…

In Piccadilly, the average age is 40-59 years old. Families make up 58% of occupants, while singles account for 42%. The average age in Uraidla is slightly higher, at 60+. The family to single occupant ratio is similar: at 53% and 47%. Given its proximity to wealthy suburbs such as Crafers (median house price $792,500) and Stirling, this is a smart investment. There are various houses for sale in Piccadilly, for example, asking between $500,000 – 550,000.

As with any decision to buy real estate, it’s important to consider the future of the suburb. Piccadilly Valley has received global coverage for its “gasp-worthy” views and inventive wines. It’s been listed in Australia’s six best wine regions, with local restaurants and boutique hotels being featured.

This makes it a sound investment, both financially and for your lifestyle. As one of Australia’s most important wine regions, Uraidla and Piccadilly are only going to get better.
