Meet the Team Series: Amanda Illingworth

For Amanda Illingworth, she’s found the perfect home for her friendly, always-caring personality – fusing marketing and real estate. Over a decade ago, Amanda moved to Australia from the United Kingdom with her daughter, so she knows a thing or two about the importance of place, community, and belonging.

She’s nearly been with First National Nitschke since landing, joining the Strathalbyn office only one year later. Today, Amanda remains in the same role, as Nitschke’s Customer Service Manager. It’s a customer-facing role that requires an intuitive ‘people person’ and a great communicator – whether that’s preparing a new online listing or speaking to a walk-in.

When asked about her favourite part of the industry, Amanda said: “I love the variety of my role and the team I work with. We all help each other wherever we can.” She spends her days creating brochures and sign proofs, managing social media, preparing property listings, and all sorts of other ad-hoc tasks that her “work family” needs.

Amanda’s remained in Strathalbyn and enjoys a relaxing, scenic commute to Mount Barker. A beach lover, she’s glad to be close to the long stretch of the Fleurieu Peninsula, just 30 minutes from her home. Amanda’s idea of a weekend well spent is a night in with her family, watching a good movie with a glass of red, followed by a morning walk at Mount Lofty and watching her daughter dance in competitions.

“I love visiting wineries, eateries, and coffee shops.” She belongs in the Adelaide Hills.

But two seasons remind her of where she’s from: spring and autumn. “I adore the greenery and it brings back warm memories of the U.K. It’s really stunning, the turn of the season in this part of the state.”

You can find Amanda cheering on her favourite English soccer team, the Tottenham Hotspurs (the ‘Spurs’) and of course, her footie favourites, Port Adelaide. Her wine taste is even close to home, with Shaw and Smith Shiraz and Bleasdale Mulberry Tree ready to crack on a Friday night.

The Stirling Hotel holds a special place in Amanda’s heart. “It’s where my fiancé and I had our first date.” And Appleseed Café in Strathalbyn holds her ‘best café’ suggestion. “I’m there most weekends.”

While Amanda continues to love every part of Adelaide Hills and Fleurieu Peninsula living, she dreams of owning a two-storey townhouse. “It’s just like my old English home and I love the idea of bringing that feeling here.”

There’s one part of home she always carries with her – her Mum’s advice, to always treat others the way you want to be treated. Amanda celebrates this wisdom every day.
